Our visit to the Museum of Childhood.

Year 1 went on an exciting trip to the Museum of Childhood on Tuesday 10th January.
First we had to take a short journey on the train to get to  Bethnal Green... we all got very excited when the train went into a tunnel!!
In the museum we had a lot of fun, there was so much to see and do! We played with some of the toys, explored the sensory pod, dressed up in many different costumes and did some role play.
The things we enjoyed most were Fairytale Land, having a ride on the rocking horse, winding up the giant robot and dressing up!

What's happening in Year 1?

The Christmas Production has been a big focus recently. Year 1 are performing a dance in the production and we have been practising hard! We have also been learning lots of new songs for the Christmas play and practising the actions for them. We do not have any pictures to show yet as we do not want to spoil the surprise!!!

We have also been using Numicon in Maths which has been a big success, children have been exploring the different shapes and making Numicom number lines. They have also been making patterns and identifiying the different shapes for numbers to 10.

Take a look below!

Minibeasts

In Class RF we have been learning all about the different types of  minibeasts and looking at the similarities and differences. We are going down to the school environmental area for a minibeast hunt - this will be fun!
In Class we have made a minibeast role play area and made habitats.

We have also being doing 'Who am I?' writing, using clues to guess the minibeasts. We have looked at the making of 'The very hungry caterpillar' and created our own tissue paper pictures.

Thank you for looking at our blog!!

RF - what have we done this term?

Class RF are getting to know one another as they only came to school this term.  They are learning about colour and lights and you can find out more information on their topic from our school website, which is at http://www.fairlop.redbridge.sch.uk/

On Heritage Day they will be parading as Russia, and they have to wear the colours of the Russian flag which are blue, red and white.

They have had lots of fun making firework pictures and learning about sounds, and they made a dark den to play in.  Now they are practicing for their Christmas play which is about a Grumpy Sheep!
